Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the Secretary’s Office?

A: We are located inside the fairgrounds, near the grandstand.  Come in the main gate, past the open draft horse barn, and turn left after the fenced horse ring.   The Secretary’s Office is a white ranch-style building, Building 48 on the Fairgrounds Map.

Q: I have questions regarding Jr. Fair (4-H or FFA).

A: Send an email for questions regarding Jr. Fair to loraincountyjuniorfair@gmail.com.  For 4-H questions, call the OSU Extension office at (440) 326-5851.

Q: How do I enter animals or other items in the fair?

A: Step-by-step instructions are available on the Entries page.  We start taking entries on July 1 and the deadline to enter is August 5 @ 6:00 pm.

Q: What is the difference between a Membership Pass and a Season Pass?

A: A Membership Pass allows the holder to vote in the election for the Lorain County Agricultural Society directors (must be a Lorain County resident age 21+).  The election is held Monday of fair from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Q: What are the hours of the fair?

A: Gates open at 8:00 a.m. daily.  Exhibitor buildings are open from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.  Rides begin running at 1:00 p.m.  Food stands will stay open as long as they are still selling.  We have no set closing time: closing time depends on when the show lets out that evening and how long people are still walking around that night.

Q: Where can I find the schedule of events for the fair?

A: The fair week schedule can be found in the Quick Links section of the website footer.

Q: How much is admission to the fair?

A: See General Info.

Q: Where is your lost & found?

A: We keep lost & found items at the Secretary’s Office.  The Sheriff & Ambulance station at the main gate also keeps lost & found items.

Q: How do I get tickets for the shows?

A: We begin selling tickets in May or June each year; up until fair week, there is no fee to get in the gate.  From the start of ticket sales until Friday before fair, you can purchase tickets by phone, online, mail, fax, or in person at the Secretary’s Office.  Starting Saturday before fair, your options are limited to purchasing online or in person at the ticket booth behind the grandstand.  See the Entertainment page.
